​College Factory runs successfully thanks to a team of dedicated and experienced educators, activists, and volunteers.

Xernona J. Thomas, Ed.D | Executive Director

Dr. Thomas is a native Athenian and has spent her entire career serving the Athens area community. She currently serves as the Executive Director of College Factory, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to providing college and career planning resources to youth and families in Athens, Georgia. Prior to this role, she served as Superintendent of the Clarke County School District. During her thirty years in education, she has worked as a school social worker, assistant principal, principal and chief of staff. 

 Dr. Thomas has dedicated her professional career to supporting students academically and socially in order to improve their future opportunities. She has shown a commitment to equity and ensuring that all students and families have access to the resources needed. She believes in the potential for every child to experience success when given the appropriate support.

Dr. Thomas currently serves on the Peach State Advisory Board and Supervisory Committee. She is also a member of the Piedmont Athens Regional Foundation Board. Dr. Thomas earned a Bachelors in Journalism, Masters of Social Work and Doctorate of Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Georgia.  She is married to Reginald Thomas and they have two children, Jameson and Camille.  ​

Dy’Amond Mc Ghee | Program Coordinator

Dy’Amond is from Pembroke, Georgia. She is currently a 4th year student attending The University of Georgia studying Criminal Justice and Psychology. After graduation she plans on going to law school to study corporate and business law. In her free time, she enjoys going to cycling classes, cooking with friends, and traveling around the country. She is passionate about working with people in the community and helping underprivileged children with education.

Alyssa Nicole Wright | Outreach Coordinator
​Alyssa hails from Douglasville, Georgia. She is currently a fourth-year student at the University of Georgia, pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology. Her future goal is to attend graduate school and later find a career in extension and outreach. Her hobbies include dining at local restaurants, attending live music events, and participating in philanthropic activities with her friends. She enjoys camping, meeting new people and sharing her interests with others. Alyssa strives to connect families with resources to support optimal family functioning and eradicate inequality within the workforce.
